Project Abstract

This proposal will tackle the Kyoto Protocol issues as a general frame to implement its specific objectives of a proper use of the Clean Developing Mechanism to achieve sustainable development in African, a continent with an enormous natural resource potential, including energy resources, but carrying the lowest development indicators in the World.

The proposed action intends to contribute to create the most appropriate framework enabling to implement CDM activities in the Sub-Saharan African countries, mainly from the  SAHEL  (meaning the  Sahara  desert boundary) and the SADC ( Southern Africa ) regions, presenting the greatest diversity of resources and facing crucial development problems at all levels.

The action is designed to contribute to the assessment of barriers for CDM investments, creating endogenous capacity for the removal of these barriers, and to avoid or minimise future emissions on development scenaria by promoting environment-friendly technology transfer. These elements will built an appropriate framework for CDM project implementation and facilitate CDM related investment.s
